On January 10, 2017, the FAA released the regulations which will govern the issuance of this type of medical. This lecture will include the requirements that airmen must meet to obtain BasicMed. The specific limitations and legalities of this legislation will be reviewed.

Pilots will be able to self certify if they have a current drivers license and have passed an FAA physical (regular or special issuance) in the past 10 years. They will need to take an on line course and pass a quiz, every 2 years. They must visit a licensed physician every 4 years The are not eligible if their medical has been cancelled, revoked or withdrawn.
