We held our first Airport Fun Day last year and it was unexpectedly popular with the local community. Time for another one, then! We’ll have some static aircraft displays, some booths from local aviation schools and organizations, activities for kids from three to thirty, and more stuff too. Better yet, a free hot dog lunch for all attendees. Spread the word. Our Airport Fun Day will be held from 11:00 to 14:00. More information will be coming; we will need a high level of chapter volunteer participation for a successful event. Please plan to set aside a few hours on that date. Don’t say you have not been warned…
On Wednesday 19th we’ll be back at the hangar for our membership meeting. After a short chapter business update, we’ll have a presentation from Bruce Estes about IFR for VFR pilots.
Our monthly Saturday lunch and program will be this coming Saturday, February 8th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday’s Lunch will be:
- Hawaiian Kalua Pulled Pork sandwiches on a Brioche Roll with Pineapple and Cole Slaw
- Macaroni salad on the side
- We can also make a grilled cheese sandwich by request
Our healthy choice(s) will be:
- Fruit and some other green salad
Beginning at 12 noon we will have chapter announcements followed by “Aviation News You Can Use,” which will be brief video vignettes on topics of interest. This months’ news includes information on how the FAA will be enforcing the new ADS-B mandate, why aircraft insurance rates are going up and what you can do about it, and how to safely Hand Prop an aircraft to get it started.
Our monthly IMC Club meeting will be from 7 to 8 pm on Wednesday Feb. 5 in the chapter hangar. This month’s meeting features a newly released video scenario from EAA national about a night time IFR approach where all looks well on the instruments but ATC calls with different information. Our special topic will be the recently-rewritten FAA regs on how to maintain currency.
