President’s Corner

Great weather has arrived and with the longer Spring days many of us will be looking forward to more flying, and spending time with friends at the airport. Our new EAA hangar will be a great place to meet up and share some time with fellow EAA members. Our meeting place is the result of many dedicated people coming together with both money and effort to create a wonderful Event Center for our group. Special thanks to our Gold members, board members, and officers, and especially the volunteers for their contributions of time, money, and sweat.

On the subject of our Hangar; we have a new hangar boss. Dick Rupe will be the new Hangar Boss to help coordinate Hangar improvement projects, replacing Ken Schwartz.  Ken will be sharing his time between Reno and Lincoln as he has purchased a home in Reno and will be maintaining two homes.  Ken will continue to be involved as Vice president but his availability to coordinate Hangar projects will be limited. Dick has stepped up to help (as he often does) to fill the need to have a person available to coordinate improvement projects for the Hangar. Please contact Dick and volunteer some time to help out. We have lots of ideas, and what better way to meet up with old and new friends?

Wednesday April 20th our General Membership meeting will feature Dick Rupe and Ken Schwartz’s RV6 build. The plane will be on display in front of the EAA hangar. This will really be special because the plane will be covers-off for inspection of mechanical electrical and avionic installations. The plane is at the 90% done with 90% to go stage, so it’s a perfect time for a Q&A. I have seen the great work both Ken and Dick have put into their project and believe that this will be an excellent time to learn from a couple of outstanding builders. As usual the meeting will feature Bar-B-Que burgers etc.

I’ll see you there!

Happy landings,
