Executive Hangars Project Public Outreach Meeting August 6, 2025
Representatives from the City of Lincoln, developer and EAA chapter 1541 member Ed Soo, and Western Engineering Contractors, Inc. met with airport users at the airport gazebo on August 6, 2025. Information presented included maps of the project, and plans were discussed that will result in temporary closures of some taxiways. The map images are included below.
Key Points for Airport Users
- The pavement grading and paving area on the main ramp essentially splits the airport to a South area, which is accessible via Gates 1 and 2 on Flightline Drive, and a North area, accessible via Gates 3 and 4. It will not be possible for vehicles and pedestrians to use the main ramp to travel between the two areas: Flightline Drive will have to be used.
- Water‑filled, lighted barricades are in place to protect aircraft traffic, pedestrian foot traffic, and vehicles from the active construction zone. Please respect them. They are for everyone’s safety.
- Barricades will be in placed on Taxiway A between Taxiway G and Taxiway E from Monday through Saturday that block all traffic (aircraft and ground vehicles). They will be put in place each morning and then removed from Taxiway A daily by 6:00 p.m. See Map 3 below for details.
- These daytime closures will require that aircraft use the runway to move between the north and south areas of the airport. Please check for departing and landing traffic and announce your intentions on the CTAF frequency 123.0 before entering the runway. During this period of construction touch and go landings on the runway are discouraged. The daily closures of Taxiway A are expected to end August 21st, in time for the Wings and Wheels event on Friday and Saturday, August 22-23.
- Good radio communications will be essential when using the taxiways and runway during the times when any taxiway is closed. Announce where you are, where you are going and what route you will take, and provide updates on your location as you navigate the various ramp and taxiway locations on the airport.
- Sewer installation will involve night time trenching done from 5 pm to 5 am on Taxiway G. It is shown as the red area on Map 3 below. Recessed metal plates will be installed over the trenched areas to permit vehicle and aircraft traffic during the daytime.
- After paving is complete, the construction of hangar buildings will begin. During building construction Taxiways A and F will remain open.
- Overall project completion is targeted for Spring of 2026.
- Be sure to check published NOTAMs online and current AWOS information accessible on frequency 124.25 or via via phone at 916-645-0698 each time you intend to fly or navigate on the surface areas of the airport.
- If you are a hangar owner or lease holder and have subleased your hangar to a tenant, please forward this information to them.
- The next airport users meeting update and Q&A session will be held on Saturday, September 13 at the EAA hangar, S-12 at 9:30 a.m. The hangar has the red letters EAA on it and is accessible via Gate 4 on Flightline Drive.
