At The Airport…

Will Gottenberg and his PT-22 are seen taxiing out early on the morning of April 28 on their way to the Beale AFB open house. Flying conditions are fortunately pretty good all year round in Northern California, but the “real nice” flying season is upon us, with numerous opportunities to get out and do some fun flying, even of the open cockpit variety. (Scott Thompson)

During the chapter Open House on April 28, chapter member Charlie Rogers (on right) mentioned during Beth Stanton’s program that he had always wanted to investigate unusual flying attitudes but had never followed through. No time like the present, it seems, because aerobatic coach Dave Watson (on left) offered Charlie a demo flight right then and there in the Super Decathlon that Beth and Dave had flown in from Livermore. From all reports Charlie enjoyed his flight that included a few loops and rolls. Charlie has an aerobatic-capable RV-8 so perhaps more in the future? (Scott Thompson)
