President’s Corner

Welcome Chapter 1541 Members and Friends,

I’d like to start out thanking all that attended last Saturday’s presentation by Paul Dye.

Paul Dye presenting “Shuttle, Houston: Life in the Center Seat of Mission Control” 11/6/2021

Paul said that he was impressed with the turnout and the diverse ages of the attendees. We should see Paul again next Spring when the weather will allow him to fly the SubSonex jet in. I would also like to thank all that helped support the event.

The rocket subject matter continues for the month with the Wednesday 17th member meeting presentation of “The Titans under our feet” by Rob Burmeister. I encourage you to join and learn some history very close to home! Prior to the member meeting program, we will be holding a chapter vote on the proposed new chapter officers for the coming year.

This year’s Ray Scholarship recipient Kaden Kusick has received the final approval from EAA National, this allows him to start his flight training immediately. Congratulations Kaden, and thanks to Scott and Shirl Whelan for their help in getting all of the information sent to EAA national so the award could be finalized.

We are also putting together the final details for a holiday party. This year we will be trying something a little different. We are working on a celebration early in the next year. This will make the gathering easier for some to attend due to the busy December commitments, and be a great launch of the New Year. Once we have all the details finalized, we will let all of you know. At this party we will celebrate the achievements of chapter members, and recognize members who have made contributions to the chapter’s success. We also will have a raffle with some very nice prizes and some great food. These gatherings are also great for visiting to get to know each other.

The chapter needs helpers at our in-person meetings. We are looking for helpers to cook and Young Eagles pilots. If you are interested, please contact any of the board members so we can get you started.

Hope to see all of you during our next chapter gatherings. Be well, and thank you.
