On February 19th, Kellan Shutt took his first ride in a small airplane. Kellan has been fascinated with airplanes for a long time. His mother found our EAA Chapter 1541, and contacted Scott Thompson. Scott invited Kellan and his mother to one of our breakfasts, introduced me to Kellan and asked me to give Kellan a Young Eagles flight. We logged 0.8 hours and Kellan took the controls for part of the flight.

Kellan is twelve years old but already knows that he wants to be a professional pilot. After the flight I asked Kellan what he thought of it. His response- “pretty awesome.” I have no doubt that Kellan will be at the controls of airplanes a lot in the future. (Bruce Estes)
