Online monthly chapter meeting this Wednesday

Our monthly chapter meeting for July will be an online Zoom this coming Wednesday, July 21st. We will begin with informal open mic “Hangar Chat” at 6:40 pm, and the meeting itself will begin at 7 pm.

In the best homebuilder traditions of EAA, our program entitled “A Homebuilt Heat Treatment Oven for Aluminum” will cover the underlying motivation for – and the construction, debugging, and troubleshooting of – a home-built oven for solution heat treatment of aluminum aircraft parts.

Our speaker is chapter member Mike Cencula, a mechanical engineer with roughly 30 years experience in mechanical design and analysis; failure analysis and reliability improvement; and project and team management. He has worked in the steel industry, industrial automation, and subsea robotics fields. He was trained in the US Naval Reserve as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic where he had the opportunity to work on aircraft such as the F-14 Tomcat, E-2C Hawkeye, A-7 Corsair, and EA-6B Prowler. Mike is currently building an RV-7A aircraft and maintains a builders’ log at http://www.our7a.com . He holds a private pilot license.
