As part of its Flying Legends of Victory Tour, the Commemorative Air Force’s B-17G, Sentimental Journey, will be based at Lincoln for the week of September 15-20, offering a tangible taste of history with ground tours and airborne flight experiences. The schedule has the B-17 arriving on Monday, September 14. Ground tours will be available beginning the following day, Tuesday, September 15, through Thursday, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. On Friday through Sunday, B-17 rides are available from 9 am until 2 pm, with ground tours available from 2 pm until 6 pm. Ground tours are offered for $10 per individual or $20 for a family of four. Flights in the B-17, indeed a rare opportunity, are offered with seats at $475 or $850, depending on where the seats are in the aircraft. Flight opportunities are limited…and it is suggested that bookings are done as early as possible. This website offers more details and booking information.
Sponsored by the City of Lincoln and the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce will be a special dinner on Saturday, Septembe 19, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This will be a private event, with net proceeds benefiting the CAF’s 501(c)(3). The event will include a catered dinner and talks on the B-17 and the Masters of the Air series, led by the B-17’s tour director and Taigh Ramey, respectively. Also included is an early-evening interior tour of the B-17. There will also have a WWII costume contest to add to the fun. Not an EAA event, for more information contact Richard Pearl (pennyrich99@gmail.com) Tickets are $55 each and available here. Dinner capacity will be limited due to hangar size, and pre-registration is required.
