Second Saturday Breakfast on October 10

EAA Chapter 1541’s Second Saturday gathering is set for next Saturday (October 10), and will feature our fantastic pancake breakfast followed by a program that brings back chapter member Tom Taylor. Tom presented back in February on being a Navy fighter pilot flying the F-18 off carriers. This month he will bring his wealth of knowledge to bear on a tricky subject for pilots: What to do about a loss of power on takeoff including both on the runway and once airborne. He will cover calculations and experimentation, his own preflight preparation and gameplans for varying runway lengths and conditions. It will also include a discussion of what many refer to as “The Impossible Turn” and Tom’s checkpoints for when he will attempt to execute it, and when I won’t. A ‘don’t miss’ for pilots and of interest to all those who find aviation of interest.

We’ll be cooking pancakes, eggs, and other good stuff from 8:00 am to 9:00 am when the grill shuts down, so come early. Breakfast will be $10.00 per person or $25.00 per family, (or complimentary if you are one of our chapter’s Gold Members). Before the presentation at 9:00, we’ll have a short business meeting with some updates.

Our free flight simulators will also be up and running for both young and old.

Driving in: follow the “EAA” signs on Flightline Drive at the Lincoln Airport (KLHM) to the EAA hangar, Hangar S-12. You’ll enter the fourth gate to the hangar area…please respect other users and don’t park in front of hangar doors or more than two deep alongside hangars to allow taxiway use. For fly-ins…we can accommodate a limited number of aircraft parking around our hangar but we usually can make it work. Email the chapter for more details.
