Second Saturday Pancake Breakfast on September 12

Mark your calendars for our Second Saturday Gathering on September 12.

Due to the summer heat, we will be having pancake breakfasts for the months of July, August, and September, so come out on Saturday, September 12, as we break out the pancake batter and syrup for our feast. Beginning in October…back to BBQ lunches!

We’ll be cooking pancakes, eggs, and other good stuff from 8:00 am to 9:00 am when the grill shuts down, so come early. Breakfast will be $10.00 per person or $25.00 per family, (or complimentary if you are one of our chapter’s Gold Members).

Our program for September will be a special one. Robert Long, an Aviation Safety Officer with the state Division of Aeronautics will be our presenter. The Division of Aeronautics is the aviation part of Caltrans, our state transportation agency. Robert will give us an overview of what the Division of Aeronautics does. Not widely known is that the division inspects all public-use airports in California, and provides a wide range of other services also. The airport inspection process is complex and extensive, and is in cooperation with the FAA. Robert will provide some details about his job, and will also be providing information about the division hiring two or three Aviation Safety Officers in the near future. For those who might be interested…he can provide the scoop about how to apply. Robert is flying the division’s Cirrus SR22 in for the presentation, so we’ll all get a chance to get a close look at that airplane.

We’ll also have a presentation from one of our Air Academy summer campers about his week at Oshkosh this past July.

Driving in: follow the “EAA” signs on Flightline Drive at the Lincoln Airport (KLHM) to the EAA hangar, Hangar S-12. You’ll enter the fourth gate to the hangar area…please respect other users and don’t park in front of hangar doors or more than two deep alongside hangars to allow taxiway use. For fly-ins…we can accommodate a limited number of aircraft parking around our hangar but we usually can make it work. Email the chapter for more details.
