Why Not Spend The Day at the Airport?
If you ever needed an excuse to spend an entire day at the airport, the LRAA and the FAASafety Team are providing that opportunity! Saturday, April 19 starts with an extended version of the monthly Lincoln Aircraft Display Day beginning at 08:00 and continuing through 15:00. At 10:30, the Lincoln Regional Aviation Association will gather for its annual Members Meeting. As usual, we don’t meet unless we eat! Lunch will begin at 12:00 (there is a suggested donation of $5.00 for non members). Join or renew your LRAA membership on the 19th, and lunch is on them! The afternoon brings a collection of varied aviators to the hangar for an enlightening discussion on the numerous types of aircraft that operate at the Lincoln Regional Airport. We’ll hear first-hand from those who ply our skies in corporate jets, helicopters, high-performance experimentals, powered parachutes, ultralights, and even those whose flight is primarily vertical … skydivers. Through understanding each aviator’s capabilities and limitations we can all learn how a system of mixed-use flight operations can be conducted safely and efficiently. This open forum will include a panel of CFI’s, and the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panel.

Save with “Aircraft Display Day” Fuel Discount!
The City of Lincoln continues to support the LRAA’s “Aircraft Display Day” weekend by offering 100LL self service fuel at a discount. Beginning at 18:00 on Friday, April 18, and running through to 06:00 on Monday, April 21, look for a great discount on self-service 100LL.

Saturday Flyout

The RVators have a flyout on April 12th:

“This weekend we are headed to Livermore, Beeb’s Sports Bar and Grill. I called them and they are expecting us and looking forward to having us. I have talked to people in the past and heard that the tower people are friendly to G.A. although I have never been in there. The restaurant is on the North West side so we will be parking in the North West ramp. Tell ground that you are headed to Beeb’s. We will be meeting there at 11:30 or in the air on 122.75 hope to see you there!”

Saturday Flyout

The RVators have a flyout on April 5th:

“We are planning on Quincy again tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be improving today and it should be nice tomorrow. I called the Thunder Café and gave them a heads up this morning. We will plan on meeting on the ramp at 11:30 in Quincy or in the air on 122.75.

If for some reason we can’t get in the alternate will be Willows, hope to see you there!”

Next Meeting / BBQ April 16th

The next membership meeting will be on April 16 at the airfield. It’ll be our first BBQ meeting of the year! These have turned out to be a very successful way of getting to socialize with fellow pilots…and even made the Chapter a little money!

For April’s meeting, we are looking for some BBQ volunteers. In the past, Jack Parks, Dick, Ken, Dave & Debbie and a few others have carried the lion’s share of the work…I mean…fun!…and it really is fun as we always have plenty of help with set-up, etc.

This Thursday, April 3, we will be having an impromptu meeting/dinner at Pizza Roundup, 2270 Nicolaus Road, Lincoln, at 6pm. We are looking for a few volunteers to help with this upcoming BBQ.

Saturday Flyout

The RVators have a flyout on March 29th:

“This Saturday we are planning lunch at the Thunder Cafe in Quincy. There is a good possibility that it’s going to rain this Saturday and if this is the case we will plan on next Saturday instead.”

Stop press
“Looks like the weather is not going to cooperate today, we will shoot for Quincy again next weekend.”

Richard Balderson hangar sale

Many of you may have heard that Richard Balderson, one of the founding members of Auburn Chapter 526 and owner of a hangar at Lincoln, is facing the life-threatening challenge of his life. His wife, Pam, has expressed her deepest appreciation for the warm and positive support of EAA members, and she will be grateful for your continued support. She asks especially that, if you know him, give Rich an occasional call just to chat, tell him what’s up with you and, hopefully, give him a few laughs. You should call on their home line, (916) 966 – 6712.

In the mean time, there are several items in Richard’s hangar at Lincoln in which you might have an interest. The list includes:

  1. A 1990 Jag XKS V12 with only 71,744 miles on it. It’s white with a sharp tan interior. It’s been registered as non-op for the last 6 years.
  2. A classic Laher electric golf cart in need of major restoration.
  3. A Yamaha 650 Heritage Special motorcycle, complete but currently non-op.
  4. 2 each 2-cylinder, opposed, 2-cycle drone engines, one with mount, hub and prop but no exhaust.
  5. An Easy-Ride tow dolly (any RVers out there?).
  6. A Schwinn 20″ child’s bike.
  7. A Dahon 3-speed folding bike.
  8. A set of 4 steel spoke wheels that look like they may have been from a Pontiac Firebird.
  9. A set of 4 Cragar 14″ wire wheels with 225/60 X 14 tires.
  10. A 15 gal. hand crank fueling station cart.
  11. A cart-mounted nitrogen bottle/valve assembly (perfect for shock struts).
  12. 2 small floor jacks.
  13. A pair of modern movie theater seats.
  14. An antique love seat and matching chair.
  15. A Sanborn Magna Force 2hp, 110V, 22 gal horizontal air compressor, model 104A200-22.

If you have an interest in any of these items, please call Brent Smith to discuss at (916) 708 – 3372.

Saturday Flyout

The RVators have a flyout on March 22nd:

“This Saturday we are planning on Watts Woodland. We’ll be eating at the golf course so you will need to wear a collared shirt. We have never been there before so this will be new for most of us. We plan on meeting on the Ramp at the destination at 11:30 or in the air en route on 122.75. We hope to see you there!”

Time for Action: Support the Third Class Medical Legislation

It is time for us to act in support of the General Aviation Pilot Protection Act (GAPPA). Send a customizable message with the EAA’s Rally Congress tool, or you can write, call, or email your Congressional delegation today and ask for their co-sponsorship and support. This legislation would apply medical certification standards similar to the decade-old and successful Sport Pilot rule to most general aviation aircraft when flown for personal flights under visual flight rules at or below 14,000 feet MSL and under 250 knots. The bill is designated S. 2103 in the Senate and H.R. 3708 in the House of Representatives, introduced by Senator John Boozman and Representative Todd Rokita, respectively.

March Membership Meeting

This Wednesday, March 19, is our monthly meeting for EAA Chapter 1541. Again, it will be held at Cattlemens Roseville, 2000 Taylor Road. In the Banquet Hall, dinner will be at 18:00, for those who are interested, and the meeting is scheduled to begin at 19:00.

Don’t forget, our own Laura Nealon will be giving a most long-awaited review on flying the U-2! All friends and family are welcomed!

Jeff Skiles at KMHR on April 2

Jeff Skiles, EAA’s Vice President of Chapters & Youth Education, will be visiting Sacramento Mather Airport (KMHR) on April 2nd. He will give the latest on what EAA is doing to inspire the next generation of aviators.
