There is an effort to get the Aviation Club at the Lincoln Hills community back up and running. There is an organizational meeting to be held this coming Thursday, January 31, at the Orchard Creek Lodge in Lincoln Hills beginning at 19:00.

Bob Peterson is driving this effort forward and he offers more information here.

It looks like a nice day for flying so a number of guys, and maybe gals, from the chapter are going to fly over to Petaluma (O69) for lunch. We plan to meet at the Petaluma airport in front of the Two Niner Diner at 11:00 this morning, today, Saturday.

For those interested, you can find O69 if you fly 223 magnetic from LHM for 71 nm. It is located south of Santa Rosa and north of the bay. Normal landing runway is 29, right traffic, and if you do land on 29 and exit on the third taxiway and proceed straight onto the ramp, the Two Niner Diner is located in that vicinity, according to Google Maps.

Probably crowded at the popular restaurant for lunch on a Saturday, so bring your patience along too.

Again, it should be a very nice day for such a flight once the morning fog, if any, burns off. Exercise the freedom of flight and enjoy.

Chapter 1541’s January Member Meeting will be held at Cattlemens Restaurant, 2000 Taylor Road, Roseville. Join us for the optional dinner beginning at 18:00, with a short business meeting to follow.

Our program will feature aerobatic and air racing pilot Vicky Benzing as she presents on getting started in aerobatics. Vicky Benzing is an accomplished pilot, skydiver, aerobatic performer, and air racer. With 8,000 hours of flight time and over 1,200 parachute jumps, Vicky has a passion for everything airborne. Her flying career has spanned over thirty years and she currently holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating as well as commercial ratings in helicopters, seaplanes, and gliders. She is a regular participant in the Reno Air Races flying an L-39 jet in the jet class.

The presentation starts at 12:00 – EAA chapter 1541 new member and tech counselor Dan Masys will give a presentation on the evolution of aircraft electrical systems over the past century, and compare the strengths and weaknesses of traditional magneto systems with newer electronic ignition technologies. He will address the ‘care and feeding’ of magnetos and the lessons learned adding an electronic ignition to his Van’s RV-10. Be prepared for an electrifying and perhaps shocking program!

The January board of directors meeting is after the presentation, so around 13:15.
