ASRS – Aviation Safety Reporting System/NASA

ASRS – Aviation Safety Reporting System/NASA
Topic: ASRS………. NASA…. Have you used it yet?
On Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 Pacific Daylight Time
Location:
Quonset Hut EAA Chapter 157
2955 South Street
EAA building
Redding, CA 96001

Select Number:
WP2576886

Description:
Ms. Linda McConnel, the program manager will present all you wanted to know about the ASRS.

The ASRS collects, analyzes, and responds to voluntarily submitted aviation safety incident reports in order to lessen the likelihood of aviation accidents.

ASRS data are used to:

Identify deficiencies and discrepancies in the National Aviation System (NAS) so that these can be remedied by appropriate authorities.
Support policy formulation and planning for, and improvements to, the NAS.
Strengthen the foundation of aviation human factors safety research. This is particularly important since it is generally conceded that over two-thirds of all aviation accidents and incidents have their roots in human performance errors.

SURVEY – have you tried LED nav lights ?

Jim is interested in hearing if anybody is using LED navigation lights, and how they are working.

He tried 2 sets of ‘low cost’ led wingtip nav lights, and all 4 lights failed within hours.

With that he’s going back to standard bulbs and the 6 amps of current load.

We’ll collect the replies and send a summary. Mail Jim with your results / comments.

Your Action Needed Before House ATC Privatization Vote

The House 21st Century Aviation Innovation, Reform and Reauthorization (AIRR) Act (H.R. 2997) is moving rapidly and may get a vote on the House floor within days. As proposed in the bill, the privatized ATC system would be governed by a board dominated by commercial and financial interests. With no congressional oversight, the board would be accountable to no one, devastating general aviation and your freedom of flight, rural and GA airports, and the fly-ins and aviation activities you enjoy.
