Interested in Prop Balancing?

Tony K. has Jeremy from Watsonville (Precision Balancing) coming up to balance the props on both of his aircraft.

He can do 4 or 5 aircraft per day. So we’d like to get a few more folks together and make his trip worth it. If we get enough, he can stay up here for 2 days. Currently planning for the week of July 24-28.

Cost is $259 or $299 depending on where he has to add/subtract weight.

We already have Ken Ledwick to sign the log books and supervise the operations.

Contact Jim directly if you’re interested.

Rusty Pilots seminar on Saturday

09:00 – 12:00
Lincoln, CA

Address:
1880 Flightline Drive
Unit 1
Lincoln, CA 95648

Hosted By:
Lincoln Skyways

Instructed by AOPA Presenter William Beuck.

Life may have gotten in the way, but the dream of flight can be yours again. Returning to the skies is not as difficult as most rusty pilots think. We’re inviting you back in the cockpit and will help you get there. Come and participate in this Rusty Pilots program with fellow lapsed pilots. We will help you understand what’s changed in aviation since you last took the controls and brush up on your aviation knowledge. The Rusty Pilots program is developed by AOPA in partnership with local flight training providers in order to create the best environment for getting you back in the air and a part of the general aviation community.

  • It is easier than most people think – no FAA check ride or test
  • Might not even need a medical
  • Plus, by attending, you’ll be getting two to three hours of ground instruction towards your flight review!

Pre-registration is encouraged since seats fill up fast! To pre-register for this event click here!

NORCAL Facility Visit on morning, Saturday, July 22, 2017

The FAA NORCAL TRACON has approved a facility visit for up to 10 individuals for Saturday morning, July 22.

This is an opportunity for pilots to see what’s on the other end of the radio when flying in the Northern California airspace. Those on the tour will have the opportunity to visit the radar control room and see how the approach control works.

We are limited to only ten individuals for this visit. If we have a large demand we will try and arrange another visit at a later date.

Once we have a list of attendees we will work out the transportation arrangements. There may be a fly-in opportunity to the Mather Jet Center with transportation to the NORCAL facility, which sits east of Mather Field but is still several miles from the Jet Center.

Please respond to Jim if you want to attend. We take those interested in attending up to the maximum of ten from the email responses. Please only request to attend if you are sure you will be able to attend on July 22. Jim will let you know of the final list of attendees.

New AD Issued for Lycoming Engines

The FAA has issued a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Lycoming TIO-540-AJ1A reciprocating engines that went into effect June 28, 2017. The AD, which was prompted by several reports of engine exhaust leaks, requires initial and repetitive inspections of engine exhaust system weld joints and torque checking the exhaust pipe flange mounting nuts. The FAA estimates the AD will affect 758 engines installed on airplanes of U.S. registry. For more details, click here.

Herbert Plucker, Gone West

Sadly we have to report that Herb Plucker passed away this weekend.

He was recently diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread to his liver. The disease was already at a very advanced state when he was diagnosed and it progressed quickly.

Our thoughts are with his family.
