Subject: Taxi Routes during Taxiway B Construction at Stockton Airport

During the period 10/8/2018 to 12/20/2018 portions of taxiway Bravo at Stockton Metropolitan Airport will be reconstructed and the taxiway will be extended to the approach end of runway 29R. ·Complete or partial closure of runways and taxiways will require changes to normal taxi routes. Pilots can expect the following:

Aircraft parking at the Terminal, Spanos Jet Center, and the north Cargo Ramp:
1. a. Expect to exit Runway 29R at the end.
2. b. Expect to back taxi on Runway 29R for departure.

Aircraft parking the Transient Ramp and all FB0s
1. Expect to exit Runway 29R at Taxiway H, or back taxi to Taxiway Hafter landing.
2. Expect to back taxi on Runway 29R from Taxiway H for departure.

Check current NOTAMs for updates on runway/taxiway closures and use extra caution when operating around construction areas.

Holiday Party Tickets Available; Party Set for Wednesday, December 12th

We are happy to announce that the EAA Chapter 1541 Holiday Party is set for Wednesday, December 12, at Cattlemens in Roseville. We will start the evening at 18:00.

Tickets are $40 per person. This will get you hangar flying, entertainment, other stuff, plus a dinner meal with the following choices:

  • Prime Rib 12 oz
  • Rustler Rib Eye Steak
  • Grilled Atlantic Salmon
  • Lemon Herb Chicken
  • Porcini Mushroom Ravioli

All meals come with “The Fixings“: Baked Potato, Seasonal Vegetable, All-you-can-eat-salad, Ranch-style beans, Sourdough Bread, coffee and tea

A no-host bar will be set up in the room also.

We are planning a silent auction as a fundraiser for our Richard and Susan Bristow Memorial Scholarship Program. This chapter program is funding sponsorships of young people to the EAA Air Academy at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, plus providing other scholarship and sponsorship opportunities.

We are still in the planning stages but we expect to also have a raffle and door prizes. Entertainment is being planned by our expert board of entertainment planners.

Tickets are on sale now from any chapter board member. A board member can be easily identified as any person walking around with Holiday Party tickets in their hands offering them for sale.

Tickets will be available for purchase at any EAA 1541 event. We will accept cash (American), checks made out to EAA Chapter 1541, or Debit/Credit cards. You do not have to make a menu selection until your arrival at the Holiday Party.

This may well be the social event of 2018 so don’t wait…buy your tickets early and often. We will sell out when we get to a secret number that we are not telling anyone.

FAA Relaunches ADS-B Out Rebate

The FAA recently announced it is relaunching its $500 ADS-B rebate program effective immediately and through Oct. 11, 2019. The Agency is making $4,900,000 available under the rebate program, which will fund 9,792 ADS-B Out installations.

As of Jan. 1, 2020, aircraft flying in airspace where a transponder is necessary today will be required to be equipped with compliant ADS-B Out technology.

“The ADS-B mandate is not going away. We are about 15 months from the Jan. 1, 2020 deadline and now is the time for aircraft owners to equip,” said FAA Acting Administrator Dan Elwell.

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) welcomed the rebate’s return.

“Pilots across America thank Acting Administrator Elwell for reopening the ADS-B out rebate that will make our skies safer and more efficient by incentivizing even more pilots to adopt the cutting-edge technology. This is the last opportunity for GA aircraft owners to take advantage of the FAA rebate in meeting the 2020 deadline,” said AOPA President and CEO Mark Baker.

The previous rebate program, which ran from Sept. 19, 2016 to Sept. 18, 2017, issued more than 10,000 rebate payments.

As before, there are five steps aircraft owners should follow to meet the mandate and receive the $500 rebate:

  • Purchase the equipment and schedule installation.
  • Obtain a Rebate Reservation Code by reserving a position online.
  • Install the equipment.
  • Conduct the required equipment performance validation and get an Incentive Code.
  • Claim the $500 rebate online using the Rebate Reservation Code and Incentive Code.

As with the earlier rebate program, the rebate program is available only to those who have not yet equipped their aircraft.

In addition to the ADS-B Rebate reservation portal, the FAA’s Equip ADS-B website lists FAA-certified ADS-B equipment and features an equipage database searchable by aircraft type and model.

Saturday Program Downsized from Boeing 747 to Lear 60

We had planned on having two pilots who fly the Boeing 747 Global SuperTanker come and speak to us this coming Saturday for our BBQ Lunch and a Program event.

Unfortunately for us, but probably not so much for the State of California, the two pilots and the 747 tanker have been released, probably for the season, by CalFire and the pilots have headed home. Thus, no Boeing 747 Global SuperTanker program.

As a fill in, Scott will present a program on flying the Lear 60. Not quite so impressive, but it should be of some interest to to those who might not have had the opportunity to fly a nice high-performance corporate jet. So come on out anyways…the food will be good and the hangar flying uplifting.

Saturday, October 13th: BBQ Lunch and Program: Boeing 747 Global SuperTanker pilot presentation (BBQ Lunch)

On Saturday 13th, we’ll be having a barbecue lunch from 11:00 – 12:00.

At 12:00 we will have a program presented two pilots who fly the Boeing 747 air tanker for Global Super Tankers. The giant air tanker is currently based at McClellan for use against northern California wild fires. It is capable of carrying nearly 20,000 of fire retardant or water per load. Join pilots Tom Parsons and Marcos Valdez as they present on their very specialized airplane and mission.

Just a note: because of the nature of their mission, there is the chance that this presentation will be postponed if they are off fighting fires instead of eating BBQ lunches.
