IMC/VMC club online meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 pm PDT

Our monthly IMC/VMC pilot education meeting for October will have two “What Would You Do?” scenarios.

The IMC scenario involves an IFR flight where smoke begins to appear in the cockpit.  The VMC scenario involves a flight in a twin engine aircraft where both engines begin to fail at the same time.

Runway and Helipad Will Be Closed on Wednesday 09/24/25 from 1:30pm to 6:00pm

Received from City of Lincoln Public Services:

Valued Airport Customer,
We are informing you that we will be closing the Airport runway and helipad Wednesday 9/24/25 from 1:30pm until 6:00pm. The purpose of this closure is to perform a drone survey of tarmac and taxiway area shown on the attached drawing. The drawing shows the boundaries of the future proposed crack seal and slurry seal project.  We will be performing a drone survey of this entire area. Because of this survey, this will requires a closure of the airport (runway and helipad) as there will be a drone overflying the airfield collecting imagery that will be utilized for the design of the crack seal project. The exact boundaries of crack  and slurry seal work will be determined by the available funding when the project goes out to bid in the Spring, but we will be surveying the entire area so that we have the data needed for any of it.  Actual construction is anticipated in Fall 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027.

In conjunction with this survey on 9/24/25, we will also be completing media work for the upcoming Speedfest event occurring in the Spring of 2026. This media work will include runway footage as well as exhibition footage of exotic cars on the runway and  taxiways throughout the Airport property. This media work will begin at 1:30pm and will be completed by 4:30pm.

Thank you,

The Users Meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 am and we expect to be concluded by 11:00 am.

We hosted a very successful Airport Users meeting this past March, and we are happy to do so again. All airport users are encouraged and welcome to attend this opportunity to interact with the City about airport construction, financing, and other items. So, please mark your calendars and spread the word to others about this important meeting

A few points of note:

  • If you want breakfast…get in line by 8:30 because the grill will be shutting down by 8:45 to allow time to prepare for the meeting. You want to eat? Best show up at 8:00 am.
  • We expect a presentation by Sean Scully, the city manager, and other city representatives, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and have an open discussion. We also expect to have representatives from the hangar development company and the construction contractor.
  • We expect to tape the meeting and post it on YouTube (as we did the last meeting) for those who are not able to attend.

Spread the word…see you then.
