Young Eagles Rally on Saturday, May 12th

Our chapter Young Eagle Rally is coming up on Saturday, May 12. And, we are happy to say that we have almost filled all our time slots with kids. Right now, we have 68 kids and 11 pilots signed up for the Rally. Seven more kids and we are full up for the day.

We have a good team of volunteers already but we sure could use a few more.

  • We will have a sign-in area where the kids will check-in. We could use a smiling and patient face (or two) for help there… having a bit of computer knowledge will help here.
  • We will have some escorts that will lead kids and parents from the check-in area to the waiting area by the Gazebo at the airport.
  • We need some more folks to serve as escorts.
  • We need a few friendly people to man an information table in the waiting area to answer questions and just be friendly.

If you are available that morning please consider volunteering for the Rally – we need you. Please click here and let us know about your areas of interest.

The BBQ Lunch also begins at 10:30 am in the waiting area.

Come out and let’s provide some youth with an introduction to aviation.

Open Hangar day on April 28th

All are invited to the EAA Chapter 1541 open house on Saturday, April 28, beginning at 9:00 am. The featured part of the day will be a 12:00 presentation by local aerobatic pilot, writer, and speaker Beth Stanton.

After earning her private pilot certificate in 2011, Beth Stanton sought unusual attitude training to conquer her fear of spins and inadvertently discovered the thrill of competition aerobatics. Now a competition aerobatic pilot, she has flown in dozens of aerobatic contests flying a Super Decathlon, Pitts S-2B and Lazer 230.

She is past president and director of the Northern California Chapter 38 of the International Aerobatic Club and was the 2014 U.S. Western Regional, Southwest Regional and California State Sportsman champion, and the 2017 third place U.S. Western Regional Intermediate Champion.

Beth is the author of feature articles and columns for EAA publications. She has conducted FAAST safety seminars promoting unusual attitude and spin recovery training and has spoken to organizations around the country including high schools, women’s associations, civic organizations, Women in Aviation National Conference and Sun N Fun. She has served as a panelist and mentor for high school girls at Women of Aviation Week events at venues in the San Francisco Bay area.

Beth will present a program entitled “Cleared for Takeoff, YOU are the Pilot of Your Life.”

Besides Beth’s program, we will have several light airplanes displayed for inspection, including one under construction by a chapter member,. We’ll also have a few “hands-on” activities for fun. Pilots and other aviation enthusiasts will be available for discussions on what goes on at the airport, what our EAA chapter is all about, or just anything about airplanes and flying.

We will offer a BBQ lunch at 11:00 ($6.00 covers the cost and all the fixin’s) and then stick around for Beth’s presentation at 12:00. Should be a fun day.
