Life may have gotten in the way, but the dream of flight can be yours again. Returning to the skies is not as difficult as most rusty pilots think. We’re inviting you back in the cockpit and will help you get there. Come and participate in this Rusty Pilots program with fellow lapsed pilots. We will help you understand what’s changed in aviation since you last took the controls and brush up on your aviation knowledge. The Rusty Pilots program is developed by AOPA in partnership with local flight training providers in order to create the best environment for getting you back in the air and a part of the general aviation community.

• It is easier than most people think – no FAA check ride or test
• Might not even need a medical
• Plus, by attending, you’ll be getting two to three hours of ground instruction towards your flight review!

The FAA NORCAL TRACON has approved a facility visit for up to 10 individuals for Saturday morning, July 22.

This is an opportunity for pilots to see what’s on the other end of the radio when flying in the Northern California airspace. Those on the tour will have the opportunity to visit the radar control room and see how the approach control works.

We are limited to only ten individuals for this visit. If we have a large demand we will try and arrange another visit at a later date.

Once we have a list of attendees we will work out the transportation arrangements. There may be a fly-in opportunity to the Mather Jet Center with transportation to the NORCAL facility, which sits east of Mather Field but is still several miles from the Jet Center.

Please respond to Jim if you want to attend. We take those interested in attending up to the maximum of ten from the email responses. Please only request to attend if you are sure you will be able to attend on July 22. Jim will let you know of the final list of attendees.

The Saturday seminar has been changed to add a breakfast, 08:00 to 09:30.

The seminar at 09:30 will be Bruce Estes presenting flying ‘The Bay Tour’.

Services for my Herb Plucker will be held on Friday, July 7th at 13:30 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620. Afterwards, anyone wishing to attend will be welcome for drinks and appetizers at Cattlemens, 250 Dorset Court, Dixon, CA 95620 (just up the freeway from the cemetery).

The July Board of Directors meeting takes place on Wednesday 5th. It will be at the House of Pizza, 2270 Nicolaus Rd., Lincoln… dinner at 18:00, meeting at 18:30. All members are invited.

Just a reminder – there’ll be no pancake breakfast on Saturday, as it’s the holiday weekend.

Stuff a PIC (Pilot in Command, FAR 91.3) might just want to know about the aircraft they are flying. Information from the FAA and the INTERNET and other resources will be utilized to educate and inform the attendees.

Come and spend some time in a session with a NorCal ATC controller during this program to be held at the EAA Hangar (S-12) on Saturday, June 24th, at 09:00 at the Lincoln Airport.

Let’s take this opportunity to learn how to make interactions with our local Approach Control more efficient for both ourselves and the controllers who are working us. Are there things we as pilots can do to make the system work better for us and other users? And maybe there are things we see from our perspective that would help those on the other side of the headset make the traffic flow better for all.

All are welcome but, pilots especially, bring your questions and comments for a solid exchange of information. Spread the word and bring your friends. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity.

With the forecast temps of 106-110 degrees this week, we are cancelling the membership meeting on Wednesday 21st.

The Lincoln General Aviation Community is encouraged to attend the Lincoln Regional Aviation Association’s Annual Meeting being held in the EAA 1541 Hangar on Saturday, June17, 2017 at 10:00. This is a great time to catch up on what’s going on at your airport with respect to its operation, regulation, land development, and opportunities for your participation.

The Day begins at the Karl Harder Pavilion with an, LRAA hosted Aircraft of Historical Significance Display Day at 08:00, coffee and donuts as usual.

The general membership meeting begins in the EAA hangar (S-12) at 10:00 with registration. The meeting also includes the LRAA Board of Directors election, a FAASTeam Safety Seminar (specific program to be announced) followed by Lunch.
