“What do you really know about your fuel?”
Topic: Aviation fuels……. what are they? How are they made? What is in them? Why should you care?

Description:
Mr. Chris Lowery, a retired senior scientist with Hewlett-Packard in San Jose, a certificated single engine land USA aviator, a builder of his own Glass Star, a distinguished Toastmaster…. AND most importantly (to this seminar) the owner of Decalin Chemicals LLC. He currently lives in Fall River Mills and he has graciously offered to speak at the 132nd monthly safety seminar.

Richard Pearl needs 14 sheets of 4×8 plywood painted, one side, 10 white and 4 orange.
There are 8 sheets in the EAA hangar and white paint.
Rich will get the orange paint… There is a need to get 6 more 4×8 sheets.
These will be used for the airshow , out along the runway to define the ‘aerobatic box’
Jim is looking for a work crew to paint what is there next week, after Monday.
Then, maybe, on our 1st Sat open hangar day, June 3, we’ll get the remainder painted.
Just a reminder that Thursday May 25 through Monday May 29, 2017, Memorial Day weekend is the next LPPF fly-in. Join the “Bean Bag Bomb Runs” in the mornings and afternoons, attend the safety briefings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday late mornings and, of course, take advantage of the great flying from the Lincoln Powered Parachute Field (LPPF).
It is still To Be Decided what day the barriers will be set up, but it will be before Friday, 6/9, since the FAA folks require all prep to be done for the practice airshow.
So, we’ll need 6+ folks to help install the T-posts at the west edge of the ramp, all the way past the north hangars.
Let Jim know if you can help.
Notes:
So, if you are wanting to fly out or into KLHM, avoid these times.
We’re going to have a booth at Airfest, and Scott is requesting photos for display.
Ideally, the photos will be fairly high resolution photos (like over 1 MB) showing members and their airplanes – just airplanes are fine, too, but having the member in the photo would fit better with the poster theme: “What Our Members are Flying.”
For those of us who remember Richard Pearl’s crash last year, he’s going to talk about it on Wednesday 17th. We’ll be barbecuing beforehand, as usual.
Our first Saturday presentation will take place on Saturday, May 13th, at the EAA Chapter Hangar (Hangar S12) at the Lincoln airport from 09:00-11:00. The presentation will be on Scrapping Our World War II Air Force. If you’ve ever seen those pictures of airfields full of thousands of abandoned World War II fighters and bombers waiting to be scrapped and wondered about the backstory, then come out on Saturday to find out. Or, if you want some free muffins and coffee and a place to sit for a couple of hours, then come on out Saturday. Hangar flying from 09:00 to 09:30, and the presentation will start at 09:30.
We are going to try to provide some interesting programs on a variety of subjects presented on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, working around other ongoing activities. Spread the word and check it out.
On May 6th, we’ll be having our first Saturday pancake breakfast from 08:30-10:30.
At the last membership meeting, there was interest in EAA 1541 fly-outs. So, weather permitting, from 10:30/11:00, we’ll fly-out to Sutter (O52) for their monthly Open Hangar and Lunch Day.
[ $5, Sutter, O52, rwy 3050 ft, TPA 1058, CTAF 122.7 ]
We encourage pilots with aircraft to offer seats for those members who wish to join us. We’ll have some sort of signup for aircraft and passengers.
The May Board of Directors meeting takes place on Wednesday May 3rd. It’ll be at Beermann’s, 645 5th St., Lincoln… dinner at 18:00, meeting at 18:30. All members are invited.
