California Capital Airshow welcomes Fly-In Pilots and Guests, September 6th, 7th

The California Capital Airshow (CCA) will enhance its celebration of aviation in 2014 by expanding the California Capital Fly-in (CCF). This will be the third year for the Fly-in and the first year to feature aviation Exhibitors, Forums & Workshops. Patterned after AirVenture Oshkosh and Sun ‘n Fun, the California Capital Fly-in is a gathering place in the West for aviation enthusiasts.

This year’s featured performers include the F22 Raptor air superiority fighter, Harrier vertical take-off jet, Patriots jet demonstration team, and much much more!!!

Fly-In visitors who pre-register will receive a discount on Airshow admissions, with free shuttle transportation between the secure general aviation parking area and the airshow, and unlimited access to covered VIP flight-line seating for the airshow with hosted food and refreshments!

Fly-In Information and pre-registration may be accessed at the new Fly-In website. Pilots are strongly encouraged to download the arrival procedures (when available). Contact NORCAL approach over the designated reporting point and advise on initial contact that you are California Capitol Airshow Fly-In traffic. Please note that NORDO (no radio) operations will not be accommodated.

A combination of lecture, NTSB reports, Videos and slides he will develop a thorough process that the GA pilot may want to utilize to insure that the outcome of the flight is never in doubt (PTS language).

August Meeting

This month’s meeting is upon us… tomorrow night, 8/20. We are meeting in Tony’s hangar, E4. The BBQs will be hot, and hamburgers available from 18:00, with the meeting following at 19:00.

Speakers will be Ken Schwartz and Richard Bristow, with video and commentary of their trips to AirVenture two weeks ago.

Weather looks to be pleasant… hope to see everyone.

August 20th membership meeting

Our next meeting is next Wed the 20th. We will be having a BBQ dinner for $6.00, from 18:00 in hangar E4 (Tony K’s hangar). Please don’t be shy about stepping up and helping – we are short on help!

Ken Schwartz and Richard Bristow will presenting 2 different programs about how they arrived in Oshkosh just a couple of weeks ago. Flying the Fisk arrival from Ken, and the Mooney caravan presented by Richard. There will be lots of great information and pictures from Airventure 2014.

We’ll also be talking about our very first Poker run on Oct 4th. There will be great prizes and lots of fun. It’s suggested that you sign up as soon as possible, as there are only 52 slots available and all Northern California EAA Chapters have been invited.

There is a joint airport day with the LRAA and Young Eagle flights on Oct 18th, and more information will be presented.

October 4th Poker Run

October 4th, 2014, based at Lincoln Airport (KLHM)

Registration opens at 08:00, first airplane takeoff at 09:00

Awards at 13:00

Route: KLHM, KDWA, KEDU, KMCC, KAUN, KLHM

Cost $50 per entrant (you can have multiple entrants per aircraft), limited to 52 entrants. This includes a chance at the pot, a BBQ tri-tip lunch and 1 raffle ticket. We have many items to be raffled off.

Additional lunch tickets are available at $10 per person. Additional raffle tickets are available at $1 each.

Pick up a playing card at each airport. The pot is 30% of the total entry fees. The pot is split between the high and the low hands – if we sell all 52 entries, the pot will be $780, so $390 per winning hand.

Due to the limited number of entries (52), pre-registration is strongly encouraged. You can download an entry form or register the day of the event at Lincoln Airport.
