We are looking for aircraft to display!

On Saturday October 18th, the Lincoln Regional Aircraft Association and EAA Chapter 1541, along with the City of Lincoln are hosting an Open House / Enhanced Display Day at the Lincoln Airport (KLHM). Our goal is to share the wonderful benefits Gernal Aviation offers to Lincoln and the surrounding communities.

We are looking for local aircraft to fly in to display as historic aircraft, and modern aircraft to share with the local community. A dedicated display area is available for aircraft that want to be displayed from 08:00 to 12:00. A parking for fly-in aircraft looking to enjoy some EAA home cooked pancakes and low cost fuel prices will also be available.

We will be providing around 50 Young Eagle flights on Saturday morning from 08:00 to 12:00, and pre-registration is required.

Memorial for Richard Balderson

Richard Balderson (hangar N7) passed away on August 7th.

There will be a memorial service for Richard at the Elks Lodge in Carmichael (5631 Cypress Avenue) on September 28th.

The family have requested no flowers etc, but would appreciate any notes or stories about Richard (preferably written). There will be a luncheon, and anyone is welcome to speak about Richard.

September meeting

Wednesday, September 17, is the date of our next EAA 1541 meeting. The BBQs will be fired up for hamburgers at 18:00, with the meeting following at, or about, 19:00.

This month, the meeting will be held in Gary’s hangar, B-6. That’s the far South hangars, on the far South side. The guest speaker scheduled is John Perry from The Pilot Shop at Auburn airport.

The Experimental Class Switchblade Flying Car has progressed to where we’re closing in on first flight! (In Central Oregon, carbon fiber parts are being made and assembled for the full-scale conforming prototype.)

Switchblade Designer and Samson Motors CEO, Sam Bousfield, will share recent results from University of Washington wind tunnel testing with the new tail design, show video footage of our ground prototype testing and give the scoop on milestones reached. He will discuss some of the engineering and design challenges we have faced and solutions that have been implemented. Q & A period at end.
